QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor and Master’s degree in Education
  • Valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate
  • Valid Principal Certificate preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience in education
  • Knowledge of effective research: change process, systems thinking, organizational culture and adult learners
  • Ability to plan, implement, deliver, and sustain professional development for leaders
  • Advanced knowledge of curriculum practices, instruction, assessment, school improvement, and organizational culture
  • Knowledge of federal and state accountability programs
  • Knowledge of performance-based monitoring requirements
  • Specialized knowledge in Title III program
  • Specialized knowledge in PreK-5 Dual Language and ESL programs

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver professional development and technical assistance on effective instructional strategies for ESL educators.
  • Provide districts with professional development and technical assistance on bilingual and ESL program implementation, aligned with state and federal requirements and current research.
  • Collaborate with the Early Childhood Consultant to support the implementation of Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines for Emergent Bilingual (EB) students.
  • Provide technical assistance to districts in meeting identified STAAR objectives for Emergent Bilingual (EB) students.
  • Coordinate with other ESC staff in the delivery of services to campuses in need of improvement.
  • Provide professional development and technical assistance to districts to support implementation of TItle III program activities.
  • Collaborate and provide training alongside core content consultants for teachers of EB students.
  • Conduct training and provide ongoing support for the implementation of the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS).
  • Assist districts with the recruitment, training, and retention of teachers holding bilingual and ESL certifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to support districts with the identification and placement processes for Emergent Bilingual (EB) students.
  • Deliver professional development and technical assistance on the Spanish Language Arts and Reading (SLAR) Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and related curriculum.
  • Assist in the delivery of LPAC training for Beginning, Middle, and End-of-Year processes.
  • Support ESC personnel with LPAC Decision-Making training.
  • Provide technical assistance and training related to state Exceptions and Waivers processes.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Up to 226 working days
This is an at-will employment position.

In the event of an economic slump, a reduction-in-force may be necessary. Employees will be notified in writing
