QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate
  • Minimum 5 years experience in education
  • Knowledge of effective research: change process, systems thinking, organizational culture and adult learners
  • Ability to plan, implement, deliver, and sustain professional development
  • Advanced knowledge of curriculum practices, instruction, assessment, school improvement, and organizational culture
  • Knowledge of federal and state accountability programs
  • Recommended by the ESC Executive Director
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director may find appropriate and acceptable

 

CENTER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process all personal timekeeping, travel reporting and other paperwork in a timely manner
  • Maintain professional attire and grooming appropriate for specific job position.
  • Demonstrate punctual and regular attendance on the job
  • Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities
  • Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC
  • Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC
  • Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures
  • Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
  • Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor
  • Exhibit professionalism in all situations at the ESC

DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to handle and see to completion multiple projects simultaneously and on deadline

  • Attends all called meetings including departmental staff meetings, work team meetings, and general staff meetings

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide training on effective teaching practices and assistance in the selection and use of instructional resources.
  • Provide workshops in generating new or adapting science strategies or existing curriculum documents.
  • Provide appropriate training on the Texas Essential of Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for K-5 science and any corresponding technology application TEKS in preparation for the state mandated assessments.
  • Plan and facilitate annual science fair
  • Provide technical assistance to districts.
  • Analyze data and provide appropriate interventions, strategies, and enrichment as determined from STAAR and local assessment data for science.
  • Provide professional development for the integration of technology into the curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with the Texas Education Agency (TEA), and other relevant professional organizations.
  • ESC Contact for TExGUIDE.
  • Provide professional development technical support relating to TExGUIDE.
  • Travel (meaning to drive one’s own vehicle) to and from LEA's to fulfill program and project specific objectives is required. Out of region travel may also be required.
  • Coordinate and deliver effective training, staff development, and technical assistance in areas pertinent to the program or project.

 

SPECIAL ASSIGNMENTS

Additional projects as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Up to 226 working days
This is an at-will employment position.

In the event of an economic slump, a reduction-in-force may be necessary. Employees will be notified in writing.
